Parents, thank you for all of your support with the Fall Fandango. The children enjoyed making the art piece this year from quilling paper using knitting needles, embroidery needles and corn cob holders to wrap the paper into beautiful pieces. The children enjoyed making the layers of concentric circles the most and bending the quill into a leaf or square to support the shape of a tree. The children took a picture with the piece before signing the back to make it authentic!
This past week the children have been enjoying the outdoors, taking nature walks and playing gaga at the playground. Ms. Autumn took the children on a nature walk and had them sketch and record their senses; sight, smell, touch, hear. The children could see the change of leaves from the trees, smell the grass and dew on the ground, touched the dew on the ground, and hear the sound of birds chirping above them in the trees. The children took a 10-15 minute moment recording these observations using their sketch pads.
It was wonderful to have Ms. Chelsea, the practice teacher in our community. She loved presenting lessons to the children from all areas of our classroom. The children loved having her as part of our community and were sad to see her leave. It was a wonderful opportunity for her to practice and present to our children and to visit our school and be part of our community and campus. Ms. Chelsea has provided a mailing address to write correspondence “Pen Pals” to her and the Atlanta School she is at.
This week in our community we are making garlic knots, roasted brussel sprouts and skillet cornbread. The children are enjoying cooking in the kitchen in teams of 3. We have a few visiting the pet store this week to determine costs for a fish and hermit crab to join our community. We plan to add the pets after the Holiday break.
Lastly, the children of Mt. Laurel have planned a "Fall Feast"
