Hi All!
As I said in the header, it has been a while, but I wanted to catch everyone up on a few things as we continue to steam roll through 2018. We will be continuing our unit studies this month as we discuss friendship, how to be a good friend and how we can help others every day. Big topics for little people, right? But, as we can all agree, it is never too early to teach a few basic rules. 1. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. This one can get twisted up a bit sometimes, so be careful. 2. We do not touch people without their permission. We are working hard on this one. Even "nice touches" can be bad if not welcomed. 3. If you wouldn't say it in front of your granny, you shouldn't say it. We can all agree this one is funny because it's true. Unless you had my granny. 4. Do the right thing even if no one is watching. With this love fest comes an actual love feast. (See what I did there?) We will be having a Friendship Celebration. For our feast will be serving up friendship smoothies. The children will cut up fruit and we will make yummy smoothies to share as we pass out our cards. It will not be open to the public, but no worries. I will take tons of pictures. Here are some of the details: Rabbit Run Friendship Feast and Celebration Date: February 14 Time: 9:30 Where: Rabbit Run classroom Why: Because we love each other Also, each child will pick 5 names from a bag and we will send the names home this Friday, Feb 2nd. Your sweet child will then make hand made Friendship cards, aka Valentine's Cards for only the 5 children that they chose randomly. If your child brings Valentines for anyone else, they will not be given out. It is a fun and sweet tradition to celebration Friendship this way and we don't want to change the rules. The idea is for the kids to think of the child that they are making the card for and personalize it in someway. " I like your smile." " You always push high on the tire swing." Something that is meaningful, which cannot be done with all the children in the class. Also, no treats. NONE. You can bring them for me, of course, but I don't go to your house and sugar up your kids when you are trying to teach them to read, please don't come to mine. That's a joke, but for real..... Let me know if you have any questions about that. Last thing, but it's a good one. On February 7, from 6-8, the Elementary Guides will be providing a wonderful and detailed explanation about the transition from primary to Elementary. As a parent of a prospective 1st grader/beginning cycle, I am going. I have never been, and always hear how it puts some much into perspective and how parents have so many of their questions answered at the end of the parent night, that I am making a point to go this year. I am going as a parent, and I encourage you to do the same. We will be having conferences soon about 3rd year and beyond and many of you will ask if I think your child will benefit from Elementary, and I would love to be able to really talk to you about it, knowing that we have both put in the time and effort that this type of decision deserves. Have a great evening and I will see yall soon. Hopefully many of you on Feb 7 at 6pm, With love always, Jessica Love is in the air, along with every germ known to man. Seriously, as we go in to February, please remember to encourage good hand washing practices, keep sick kiddos home and knock on wood.
